St Andrews in the Square is a beautiful restored 18th Century A listed church right in the heart of Glasgow and described as one of the top 6 classical churches in the UK and often compared to St Martin-in-the-Fields, London
More information about the church can be found here.
The square around it has also been completely restored and provides an authentic atmosphere. The church holds regular classical/jazz/folk concerts and the bar/coffee shop within has a cool contemporary feel in contrast.
A few minutes walk will bring you to Argyle Street, the main shopping district of Glasgow, or the “must see” Merchant City area for boutique shops, bars and acclaimed restaurants of many different styles and cuisines.
A Tesco’s Metro store in nearby Argyle Street is convenient for groceries should you decide to cook at home.
Should you wish to explore outside the city, then Central Station is within 15 minutes walk for journeys north or south. Queen Street Station for regular trains to Edinburgh and Buchannan Bus Station, for numerous destinations are both 15 minutes walk away. To experience stunning scenery take a train to Balloch (45 minutes) and visit Loch Lomond National Park Visitor Centre, where you can enjoy boat trips, have lunch in the many restaurants and get to feel the contrast Scotland can offer.
